Tiny came to New Hope in January in very rough shape. We (foster home) call her Zoe because “Zoe” means life and without rescue, Zoe would not have life being ill, hungry and out in the cold. Zoe had very widespread skin infections (pretty much every ick known to veterinary medicine), and was thin and dehydrated. After receiving proper care, we are happy to report that Zoe has completely recovered. Zoe is approximately one year old, weighs 40 pounds, and is 24” high at the shoulder so Zoe is not tiny! If you are looking for a companion couch potato, Zoe is not your dog. Zoe is a very busy girl; puppy brain in an adult body. While she loves people, Zoe is mouthy when she’s excited or wants attention, and gets overexcited a lot, but the good life is new to her so she thinks she owns everything and everything is her business. With the help of a trainer, Zoe has “chill” – time out in a crate; “go lie down” – go to your dog bed; and “settle” – mat training for calm down! We’re working hard on “wait”. Zoe must have some husky in her because she’s quite vocal and has those lovely blue eyes. Our zoomy, zebra Zoe. Full disclosure: Zoe has separation anxiety. We can’t blame her because of her deprived background, but she is smart and totally treat motivated. We are trying some medication and training techniques to help her settle and not stress when she cannot see a person in the house. She will play happily alone in the yard tossing pine cones or chasing her toys around. Zoe has made great progress and is mentally growing up. Housetrained (occasional accident excepted because we sometimes don’t pay enough attention); sits nicely but wiggly for meals; loves her toys/any toy; sleeps well through the night especially if she can sleep ON you; knows her name and has decent recall from the yard; is getting used to walking around the neighborhood and realizing that there are cars and people and dogs everywhere. Zoe really enjoys her walks and we also take her to a green strip with an extra long leash to let her run a bit and sniff and explore. Zoe loves to chase and pounce so would not be suitable for a home with small children, small dogs or cats. Zoe does not much like seeing other dogs on our walks so is not a dog park dog at least right now. With a proper introduction and boundaries for food and toys, Zoe could be a good companion for a dog of similar size and age (she is currently living with an older small dog who does not want to play!). Oh hi friends! I’m Silver, you want to know the cool thing? When I came into Newhope i was so young my eyes were not open yet. My foster mom chose my name and when my eyes opened they were shinny silver. My eyes will now likely stay a similar color as I grow. I was born outside in the cold winter and now am finally learning what fun Outside and spring is. I can go home on April 14 when I’m 8 weeks old. Right now I live with my 4 litter mates, many human adults and my 2 foster dog friends. I have little kids visit daily and love to chase them outside or climb and play with them. My name is Hurley, ya I have a secret I was the small fry of my litter when I came to New Hope but I sure didn’t act it. I was always a go getter and now I am a big boy looking for my new family. I will be 8 weeks Mid April and can go home with you. While I’m waiting for a family to call my own I will keep working on my puppy training. With limited space and getting taken out regularly I am doing well on my outside training. I don’t ask yet to go out but with routine I am doing well. I sleep in my xpen and am working on Kennel training as well for 3 hours at a time. I currently live with my siblings, 2 adult dogs who are correcting me when I need it and a bunch of adults. Aerie is my name and I’m the only female in my litter! Get me out of here! Enough of my rough brothers it’s time for me to find a family! She loves people and snuggles or hanging out outside. Outside she’s an adventurer. Rather than people she likes to smell around and check things out. Great pal for lake life or summer strolls. Do you recall the last big cold snap of the winter? I do because that’s when I was born and my momma did a good job keeping us warm under a step until we had a ride to bring us to New Hope. Reba is a little cuddle bug.. she is 8 weeks and ready to find her forever home! She is a bit timid but will venture more if her people are with her. She loves the outdoors. I’m as cute as can be and you need me!! My name is Cricket and I am the goodest boy. I am crate trained, mostly house trained with the very oddest of accidents if I’m playing and not paying attention. I LOVE everything… other dogs, toys, food and treats. Ribsy is a tall strong boy, about a year old, 70 pounds, and still getting used to his long legs (he is 23inches at the shoulder). He was formally an outdoor pup and has adjusted very well to the house. He welcomes all visitors and has learned not to jump on them and doesn't even bark at the mail carrier. He actually doesn't bark much at all, even with the peer pressure he gets from other dogs in the neighbourhood. He loves being with people in the house and playing with visitors - showing off all his toys and is learning that personal space is a real thing. He is still young and has puppy energy and has learned over the last few months that mouthing is not acceptable but will need to be reminded. When we leave the house without him, he is in his crate and relaxes fine and has no problem going in with treats. When working from home - he is in the crate, the bedroom, or the office. He takes our health very seriously and reminds us not to sit too long. Ribsy is super easy to train - he is very food motivated, smart, and really wants to be good. He has learned to sit, wait and make eye contact before he is released for his meals in a slow feeder (true to his lab heritage!). We have gone on lots of car rides and he enjoys them and waits patiently when I go run errands. He does walk on a leash and harness - we are working on helping him control his excitement in busy and exciting areas as he loves being outside and is alert to everything. He hasn't had a lot of exposure to kids with us (just a few one off's which went well) but don't foresee any issues as he loves people so much so going to be introducing him to more kids this easter week. Squeak comes by her name honestly. She likes to articulate her needs, but is conservative in how often she speaks up. This sweet girl is excited for life. She seems to take joy in every mundane part of the day. She absolutely adores playing with her foster brother. She has helped bring him out of his nervous shell with her incredible energy and love of life. Squeak is approximately a year old, 20 inches at the shoulder, 30 pounds and seems to have some husky in her as well as maybe springer spaniel. But who knows for sure? Squeak has been learning many commands and easily learns everything we’ve taught her. She can sit, stay, wait, come, and fetch. She seems to prefer balls over squeaky toys because who wants to be upstaged by other squeaks? She is highly food motivated, which makes her easy to train. When it’s time for bed or for us to leave the house, I call out “box” and she quickly runs to her crate and waits for a treat. She sleeps in her crate all night…anywhere from 7 to 8 hours. She is completely house trained and will go to the back door to indicate she needs to go out. And if you tell her to go pee, she will go on command most times. Being food motivated makes it easy to train her, but can also create problems with food that is accessible to her… We are working to stop her from counter surfing. She is currently fed with a snuffle mat, along with scatter feeding to help slow down her intake of her daily meals. Squeak would do well in a home that will keep her physically and mentally stimulated. She has shown a dislike for cats, but her love of other dogs is clearly evident. She is believed to be good around children. Squeak has loved meeting everyone who’s come to our home. She is a beautiful soul and a gorgeous dog. And she’s waiting for you to take her home forever! Ella is an 8-month-old mixed breed, she’s 18 inches at the shoulder. She is medium sized at about 50lbs. Ella is learning to live inside. She has mastered sit and knows her name. Ella is working on basic training and housetraining. To say Ella is food motivated is an understatement, she is working on manners at mealtimes. Ella gets along well with dogs of all sizes. Henry J. Waternoose Waternoose is an all around friendly guy. He loves everyone he meets, people and dogs alike. He knows how to sit and shake a paw, and loves treats or pets as a reward. A sucker for a good belly rub and is happy to curl up on the couch next to you or on his dog bed on the floor. He loves a good snuggle. He is a bit of a vocal player but does quiet down with reminders. He loves spending time outside & thrives chasing the birds. He is medium-high energy and loves to play. He is very polite with toys and food, more than happy to share with the other puppy he is currently fostered with. He has significantly improved on car rides and will jump into the vehicle no questions asked if you tell him he gets to see puppies. He is still working on pulling on leash and will occasionally jump up when he gets excited. He does seem to be quite agile so would likely do well in agility/obedience training. Hello future family, My name is Roz aka Rozzie - or that's what my foster crew likes to call me anyway and I am a September pup. Although we aren’t sure of my breed, we know that I will likely be a medium to large adult. My foster mom tells me I am her favorite foster pup so far. I know how to sit and lay down and am a pro at playing fetch. My fosters installed a doggie door and I know how to use it so I have no accidents in the house. I also have a human foster sister, she is 5, and my foster mom loves how gentle I am with her. I might still get excited and jump up when I see her but I do not get mouthy with her. I also have a foster-bro, a senior kitty, who I have learned is the boss around here and he lets me know whenever I forget. At night, I sleep in my foster mom’s bedroom in my own doggie bed. Although I don’t necessarily like being left alone, I will stay in a gated space when my foster family is away at work. Other days I have gone to work with my foster mom and have adjusted well to office life. I can be a little bit timid when it comes to meeting strangers, but I am easily won over with a bit of baby talk and some treats. Pepper is a playful fun loving pup! He was born toward the end of 2023. He is learning to sit and is working on shake a paw. This little man loves to be beside his human whenever he can. He's a timid little guy when he first meats new people but is a loyal boy. He always wants to know where his foster people are. He is kennel trained and spends a lot of his time with his foster brothers. He's so funny when your gone for a bit and he sees you it's full tilt charge at you and is more than happy to get his loving in. Pepper would love to have another dog in his house but this is not a requirement. He Stays pretty close to his large male brother at the house. He still will sneak away sometimes and use his pad or tarp but he doesn’t have other accidents. He's very mischievous so keeping and eye on him is a good idea. He can amuse himself fairly easy he knows “no”and “it's bedtime” but usually takes off opposite way so needs help getting in his kennel and then he sleeps well in it. He's starting to like to be a lap dog.. but he doesn't sit for long before he's off. He know “lets go pee”and will head outside but doesn’t yet ask to go out. It's Oreo here guys. I'm a super happy girl and I love to snugge into your arms after a walk. I like to stay close on the leash and don't need to stop and smell every thing, I like to jog as well. I play well with my toys but love to grab the odd shoe to play with if left on the floor. My kennel is my happy place, I stay in there at bed time for 9 hrs and only make a howl once or twice at night just so u can tell me you love me by saying "that's enough", and I go right back to sleep without a peep. Well she is a brave little girl and always the first to follow her foster mom anywhere. Loves her meal times & knows to sit before she gets her bowl. Working on lay down right now and she’s picking it up quick! Very food motivated. Loves squeaky toys & other dogs, plays very well with our little dashchund & a big husky so not picky with her friends. She shared toys well with her littermate. Let me introduce myself, my name is Lilo and I’m told that I’m pretty balanced and adjust well to new situations provided that I’m not rushed. I was born mid-December and weighed 13.4kg at my 16week vet appointment. I’m very sweet and loving and will often curl up at your feet or snuggle on the couch if you let me. I’m crate trained and really like my crate, a lot! I will sleep in there over night and when my foster family goes out. You will also find me taking some me time in there. In fact, it’s also my ideal place to be when new people come over, it gives me time to adjust to them, especially if they’re younger children. Meet Nova.. this playful pup has been adjusting to her foster life better than we could've expected. Nova is about as friendly as they come and adores being around other dogs. Everyday she is coming more into her personality and loves to play. Nova sleeps well through the night in her kennel and is making progress daily with house training. She waits by the door to be let out and knows the cue "outside." Nova enjoys walking on the leash and has even learnt a few tricks.. to sit, lay down and is working on rolling over. Nova is a bundle of energy and is very good at entertaining herself with toys or another dog. Meet Peppermint Patty. She was born around Dec 3rd and is a mixed breed. Patty is a happy, curious and loving puppy. She will be a medium to large dog when full grown. Patty loves to play. So far, that is the only time that she barks – when she’s playing with her foster brother or trying to get him to play. Patty is more energetic than the foster. Her zoomies resemble the cartoons where they run along/up the wall since she’s often jumped onto the back of the couch and zoomed along it, then jumps off to do another circuit. She has learned sit, paw, and belly (she lays on her back for belly rubs – it’s probably her favourite ‘trick’. She uses the doggy doorbells to notify of when she needs the potty and to come back inside. She also knows Hustle (for recall), That’s Enough (for settling), Touch (to get her attention), and her name. She’s almost got: go to your room (kennel) and bedtime. She is working on wait, down, off, give, bring, and leave it/take it. But, did I mention she’s smart? She’ll learn quickly. If you are doing something new or interesting, Patty usually has a curious expression on her face and a head tilt watching to see what’s happening. Getting her mental and physical activity will be important for her and for you (she can get dramatic when she’s bored). For mental stimulation, she enjoys playing: Find It. (Hide treats and she sniffs around to find them – inside or outside). She’s learning Choose It (a treat in one hand and she guesses which one). For physical, she likes the balmy weather and will play outside or sit on the deck and survey the world with small little bursts of energy around the yard. Patty has been lucky enough to be taken on walks by many people and they all agree that she is excellent on the leash. She stays either behind or beside her foster brother, or right next to you. She doesn’t pull on the leash. Patty does well in a kennel. Patty really wants to find her furever home and be with them for her furever, so she does many things to keep healthy. She allows her ears to be inspected and cleaned, for her nails to be dremeled (with sufficient licking mat/incentive) and to apply paw balm, and she also likes getting brushed – hair AND teeth. Although, she does prefer the dental treats over teeth brushing, she still likes it. Patty will make a great addition to any family - big or small with another dog or not. If she is the only dog, she will not need to put up with any jealousy and can bask being the centre of attention! However, Patty is very social dog and it would be nice for her to continue to have lots of dog friends and people ones. Patty is a bit timid when meeting new dogs and takes a bit to feel comfortable and to really start playing, but she is watching for an opportunity from the moment they meet. Tucker is bursting with puppy love and playfulness. If you’re looking for your next best friend, look no further. This gorgeous, good boy is not only handsome, but super smart, very affectionate, loves companionship, and is extremely eager to please. Tucker was born approx. October 30th and is a friendly guy who would love some siblings, either the two or four-legged kind, to hang out with. He loves a good game of tug of war or fetch, but what he loves the most is being with and next to his people. Tucker is working very hard on housetraining and will wait patiently at the back door to be let out. He occasionally still uses a pee pad, but only in case of an emergency. Hi everyone. My name is Shadow, and I was born at the end of October. I am a handsome, lovable, happy, companion who enjoys cuddling on the couch and giving lots of kisses. I walk well on a leash and when off leash, I stick fairly close to my people. I am always ready to go for a car ride and once I am seat belted in, I usually settle quickly to nap until we get to where we are going. I love food, people, children, other dogs, toys, and belly rubs. Due to my strength, sometimes, I can wrestle a bit rough, but I do listen when told I have to settle down or the family cat gives me a swat after I have tackled her. My foster parents took in a younger foster puppy and although we wrestle and play lots, when he cries, I run to make sure he is okay. I always take the submissive approach when he wants a toy or doesn’t want me near his food even though I am much bigger than him. I am extremely smart and food driven so I learn tricks and commands very quickly. I may even try to shake your hand or give you high five when we first meet just in case you might have a treat for me. The kennel is not my favorite place as I prefer to just chill at my foster mom’s feet when she works or I nap on the couch but if I must go into my kennel be assured that I will shower you with kisses and love when you get home to rescue me from the kennel. Occasionally, I might be known to try and get your attention as I run by with a shoe in my mouth, but I am quick to drop it as soon as I have your attention. I am house trained and will go to the door when I need out. I have so much love to give and will do well with anyone that is truly looking for that loyal companion. Adoption fee is $295. Hi, I'm Luka. My foster parents say I'm a really good boy. I know basic commands and I come quickly when called. I'm an excellent walking companion.
